The base of the EK160LS features the new Cat 330 Next Gen, which is powered by a fuel-efficient Tier 4 Final C7.1 ACERT engine. The inclusion of CAT Vision Link allows management teams to monitor machine operations and maintenance data online, ensuring optimal performance and timely servicing.

The undercarriage of the rig is a Caterpillar variable undercarriage VH4400/4300/700 with a reinforced frame in an H style, providing stability and durability for the rig during operation.

The mast of the EK160LS is constructed from high resistance steel Weldox 700, ensuring it can withstand the stresses of drilling operations. The main winch has a special groove design for better cable winding, which extends the cable’s life, and includes a press-roller. It features two gears for high speed and high pulling force, automatic gear shifting for seamless operation, and an automatic down-the-hole winch stop. The winch also has both hydraulic and mechanical brakes, and the pulling force is displayed in the cabin.
The rotary unit is robustly designed with dual slewing bearings, a sturdy pinion and main gear, and two groups of hydraulic motor/planetary gears for high torque and longevity. It includes an anti-cavitation, anti-shock, and cooling system to extend the life of the hydraulic motors. The power-shift feature allows for a high spin-off speed of 120rpm for quick soil discharge. With three operation speeds and three spinoff speeds, the rig can handle both high torque and high speeds. The rotary’s automatic gear shifting enhances operation and productivity, and the exchangeable keys are bolted for easy maintenance without the need for welding.

The operator’s cab is equipped with an AM/FM radio, air conditioning/heating, ROPS cab & top protection, and an LCD monitor for the engine and hydraulics computer with a diagnostic system. The CZM Canbus System for drilling monitoring includes auto functions, providing the operator with real-time data for efficient and precise drilling operations.
